Using AreaIndex
Accessibility
We want AreaIndex to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use a keyboard, screen reader, magnification, voice control or adjusted colours.
What the site supports
- Keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator and skip link.
- Responsive layouts that reflow on narrow screens and at increased zoom.
- Programmatic labels, descriptions and errors on calculator fields.
- Reduced-motion and increased-contrast preferences.
- Text alternatives or accessible names for maps and visual controls.
How we test
Automated checks cover representative pages against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules. We also test keyboard focus, form announcements and layout reflow at 320 CSS pixels. Automated tools cannot find every accessibility barrier, so this work is ongoing.
Report an accessibility problem
If something prevents you from using AreaIndex, tell us which page and task were affected. Do not include a postcode, address, financial figures or other private information.
